Lemon Juice – why so much of it???

Whenever I write the word lemon, I am reminded of the U2 song back in the 90s that sounded more like “leeehhhhhmonnnn” in Bono’s falsetto voice.  But in all seriousness, lemons are a pretty amazing little fruit.  We use a lot of lemon in our juices, and we often get asked about why there is so much lemon in our juices here is why….

Two biggest known health benefits of lemon’s are its strong antibacterial, antiviral, and immune-boosting powers and its use as a weight loss aid.  Lemon juice is a digestive aid and liver cleanser and they contain many substances--notably citric acid, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, bioflavonoids, pectin, and limonene--that promote immunity and fight infection.

There are a lot of benefits in having lemon in your daily diet, here are some of them:

  • Lemon is an excellent and rich source of vitamin C, an essential nutrient that protects the body against immune system deficiencies

  • Lemons contain pectin fiber which is very beneficial for colon health and also serves as a powerful antibacterial

  • lemon balances maintain the pH levels in the body

  • Having warm lemon juice early in the morning helps flush out toxins

  • It aids digestion and encourages the production of bile

  • It helps prevent the growth and multiplication of pathogenic bacteria that cause infections and diseases

  • It helps reducing pain and inflammation in joints and knees as it dissolves uric acid

  • The potassium content in lemon helps nourish brain and nerve cells

  • It strengthens the liver by providing energy to the liver enzymes when they are too dilute

  • It is of immense benefit to the skin and it prevents the formation of wrinkles and acne

  • Lemon juice helps replenish body salts especially after a strenuous workout session
